Lovely setting with excellent staff, this hotel has an atmosphere second to none
and we will return this Winter to sample the old wood fires and lovely location,
what a find!

"A picturesque hotel in with olde world charm"
A very last minute break in the days before Christmas brought us to the Crown Hotel
in Framlingham. I had last stayed there more than 20 years ago and had fond memories
of the place. I booked up over the phone and the cost for three nights B&B and
two nights of evening meals was astonishing which if broken down revealed this 3
star hotel was charging close to travelodge prices and was offering a great package.
We arrived on a Sunday evening having driven through the snow and received a very
warm welcome although the bitter temperatures were pushing the hotels heating to
the limit. Each room had an extra fan heater, additional blankets and hot water
bottles. The snow and ice surrounding the hotel were pretty but showed the problems
of running a 500 year old grade 1 listed building. The rooms needed a boost of heat
but when I mentioned this to the owner he offered extra heaters and even to bring
a gas heater from his own home, excellent service.
Meals were extremely generous and the salmon fishcake and leg of lamb are to die
for. The meals are first class and the chef is to be complemented in preparing a
varied but well thought out menu. Service was adequate but a little encouragement
ensured that it remained on track.
Breakfast is standard hotel fare but the toast is both plentiful and tasty with
a full choice of full english or continental breakfast plus omlettes, smoked haddock,
etc.
Overall a very enjoyable enjoyable stay.

Great hotel...the room was nice, clean, and quiet. The staff was great and the food
was excellent too. The wireless internet was fast. Top notch hotel."
